Microsoft Bing AI Travel Search Features Reach Wide Release

Back in October, we reported on Microsoft testing new Bing features that aim to improve travel searching on the platform. Now, Microsoft says these features are rolling out in wide release. Users in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia can start using them today.

Microsoft Bing now provides in-depth travel information thanks to AI technology directly integrated into the search engine. When a user searches a travel location or destination, the AI-driven results highlight information on areas of interest, flights, hotels, car rentals, and available vacations for the area.

This is shown in an overview page that provides descriptions of the locations. There are also travel stories from other users and similar destinations, as well as things to see and do. It seems Microsoft is aiming Bing as a sort of TripAdviser lite.

Also, on normal Bing searches there are now sections showing Hotels, Flights, and the Travel Guide. In this last section you can see recommended itineraries from a day to multiple day vacations.

More Features

Bing Maps also plays a role in this new service, providing 3D virtual tours, navigation to and from destinations, and directions within cities. Maps will also highlight food and drink locations and other amenities at a location.

The insights pane provides details on architecture and landmarks, accessible by hovering over the lightbulb icon next to search results. Here you can also see questions and answers for common queries associated with the search term. This also means direct access to sources that Bing curates the information from.

Microsoft also says Knowledge Cards are also part of the new Bing Travel service but have not said what they exactly are.

Tip of the day: The Windows Clipboard history feature provides the functionality across device, space, and time, letting you copy on one computer and paste the text days later on a different PC. All of it is possible via the Windows 10 clipboard manager, which lets you view, delete, pin, and clear clipboard history at will.

In our tutorial we show you how to enable the feature, clear clipboard history, and enable/disable clipboard sync to meet your preferences. You can also create a clear clipboard shortcut for quick removal of stored content.
