Apple Planning Folding iPhone for 2025, Folding MacBook Also Possible

iPhone-XS-Max-Apple

Foldable phones are here to stay. In fact, Samsung is three generations into its Galaxy Fold adventure and can safely say it has a mature product. Huawei and Motorola are also deep into their folding phone ranges. Other phone manufacturers not so much, Apple among them. A new rumor suggests Cupertino is developing a folding phone.

However, Samsung should not get worried just yet as the report says Apple’s folding iPhone will not launch until 2025. Earlier estimates put the release of the device during 2023, but Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) says Apple will not launch its device until 2025.

According to report, Apple “does not appear to be in a hurry to enter the foldable smartphone market, and it may even take longer than [2025].”

Despite being relaxed about its launch window, Apple does see the huge potential of the folding phone market. Moreover, the company is interested in folding displays as whole, including for its Mac laptops. This would introduce a new product range for the company:

“This size could create a new category for Apple and would result in a true dual use product, a notebook with a full-size keyboard when folded and for use as a monitor when not folded and used with an external keyboard.”

Entering Late

Apple seems willing to let Samsung and others take the lead in the folding smartphone market. Although, the company has a habit of entering nascent markets and defining them. It is a bit of a myth that Apple is a great inventor. Instead, the company has been able to release products that defined their category.

The iPhone defines smartphones, the iPad tablets, and the iPod digital music players. Apple will hope its folding iPhone will have a similar impact.

Tip of the day: The Windows Clipboard history feature provides the functionality across device, space, and time, letting you copy on one computer and paste the text days later on a different PC. All of it is possible via the Windows 10 clipboard manager, which lets you view, delete, pin, and clear clipboard history at will.

In our tutorial we show you how to enable the feature, clear clipboard history, and enable/disable clipboard sync to meet your preferences. You can also create a clear clipboard shortcut for quick removal of stored content.
